Anyone shopping for "the best AI writing tool" in 2026 and putting Copy.ai, Jasper, and Writesonic on the same shortlist is going to have a confusing afternoon. All three started in roughly the same place — template-driven copy generation sold to marketers for a few dollars a month. None of them sells that product as its headline offering anymore. Their current pricing pages describe three genuinely different categories, and the cheapest realistic entry point across the three now ranges from $24 to $79 per month.
Here is what each one actually is today, based on what the vendors currently publish.
Copy.ai is now a go-to-market platform, not a copywriter
Copy.ai's own homepage calls the product "The First AI-Native GTM Platform." The pitch is consolidation — replacing a stack of disconnected AI copilots and point solutions across sales, marketing, and operations with one system. Copywriting is a feature inside that, not the reason to buy.
The published pricing reflects that repositioning bluntly. There are two worlds:
- Chat — $29/month, or $24/month billed annually ($288/year). Includes 5 seats, unlimited words in chat, unlimited chat projects, and access to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini models.
- Growth — $1,000/month, billed at $12,000/year. 75 seats and 20,000 workflow credits per month.
- Expansion — $2,000/month, billed at $24,000/year. 150 seats and 45,000 workflow credits per month.
- Scale — $3,000/month, billed at $36,000/year. 200 seats and 75,000 workflow credits per month.
- Enterprise — custom pricing, adding guided implementation, API access, bulk workflow runs, 20+ integrations, a designated account team, and enterprise security controls.
Note the gap. The jump from Chat to Growth is $29 to $1,000 per month with nothing in between. That is a deliberate signal about who Copy.ai wants: either you want a cheap multi-seat chat interface, or you are a revenue team automating multi-step workflows at credit scale. There is no mid-market content plan.
The Chat tier remains the single best value on this page for a small team that mostly wants a shared, model-agnostic chat surface. Five seats for $24/month is aggressive. But the workflow automation that Copy.ai actually markets — the part that justifies the "GTM platform" label — lives behind the $12,000/year floor.
Jasper doubled down on brand-controlled marketing content
Jasper stayed closest to its original identity, and it is the only one of the three still primarily selling content creation to marketing teams. Its pricing page now lists just two tiers.
- Pro — $69/month per seat, or $59/month per seat billed annually. Includes 1 seat, 2 Brand Voices, 5 Knowledge assets, 3 Audiences, the Canvas platform for on-brand content creation, and agents for core marketing workflows. A 7-day trial is available.
- Business — custom pricing. Adds unlimited Brand Voices, agents for complex workflows including GEO, translations, and deep research, a custom AI agent builder, Jasper Grid, unlimited IQ customization, API access, admin controls and Groups, and dedicated account management.
The notable structural change is what is missing. Jasper's entry-level Creator tier no longer appears on the pricing page; new buyers start at Pro. That makes $59/month per seat the floor for a solo user, which is a meaningful increase over where Jasper's cheapest plan historically sat.
Two details deserve attention before you commit. First, Pro includes exactly one seat — this is per-seat pricing, so a three-person content team is $177/month at annual rates, not $59. Second, Jasper's annual plans carry a 12-month commitment, while monthly Pro billing can be cancelled anytime. If you are testing, the $10/month premium for monthly billing buys real optionality.
Jasper's differentiator is the brand governance layer — Brand Voices, Knowledge assets, and Audiences that constrain output to your positioning. If your problem is "our AI content sounds generic and off-brand," that machinery is the thing you are paying for, and neither competitor sells an equivalent.
Writesonic pivoted hardest — it is a GEO tool now
Writesonic's transformation is the most dramatic. Its pricing page is now organized entirely around AI search visibility, and the plan metrics are prompts tracked, answers monitored, and site audit pages — not words generated.
- Starter — $79/month ($948/year). 1 user, 1 project, 15 AI articles/month, 10 site audits at 100 pages each, 50 prompts and 50 answers tracked daily.
- Basic — $199/month ($2,388/year). 2 users, 1 project, 25 AI articles/month, 20 site audits at 1,200 pages each, 100 prompts and 300 answers daily.
- Growth — $399/month ($4,788/year). 3 users, 2 projects, 50 AI articles/month, 50 site audits at 2,500 pages each, 200 prompts and 600 answers daily, plus sentiment analysis and trial Action Center access.
- Enterprise — custom pricing, with tracking across all 10 supported AI platforms and full Action Center and agentic workflow access.
The tracking coverage is the catch worth understanding. Starter, Basic, and Growth all monitor ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. The full roster — adding Perplexity, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, and Google AI Mode — is Enterprise-only. If Perplexity or Claude visibility is your actual concern, the self-serve tiers will not answer the question.
Writesonic's GEO documentation describes the core loop: define your site scope, location, topics, tracked prompts, and competitor list, then monitor visibility percentage (the share of tracked prompts that mention your brand), citation frequency, competitor benchmarking, and trends over time. The Action Center surfaces prioritized recommendations, including citation opportunities on third-party sites that AI engines already trust but that do not currently mention you.
Article generation still exists — capped at 15 to 50 pieces per month depending on tier — but the caps make the intent clear. This is a measurement product with a writing feature attached, not the reverse.
Which one should you actually buy?
Because these are no longer competing products, the choice is mostly determined by which problem you have:
- You want a cheap shared AI chat workspace. Copy.ai Chat at $24/month for 5 seats is unmatched here on price per seat.
- You produce marketing content at volume and brand consistency is the pain. Jasper Pro at $59/month per seat, with Brand Voices and Knowledge assets, is the only real fit.
- You need to know whether AI assistants recommend your brand. Writesonic, starting at $79/month — but budget for Enterprise if you need coverage beyond ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI Overviews.
- You are automating sales and marketing workflows across a large team. Copy.ai Growth and above, at a $12,000/year starting commitment.
The one combination nobody on this list serves well anymore is the solo creator or small business that just wants competent long-form drafting for under $30/month. That tier has quietly disappeared from all three vendors as each chased larger contracts. If that describes you, general-purpose assistants have absorbed that use case, and the specialized writing tools have moved on.
Prices and plan structures cited here reflect what each vendor publishes as of July 2026. All three have changed their packaging materially within the past year, so confirm current terms on the vendor pricing pages before purchasing.
